Joanne L. Smikle, PhD provides consulting services to organizations committed to maximizing their impact and effectiveness. Her expertise is in organization development, executive development, strategic planning and collaboration. She partners with leaders to design innovative, successful approaches for addressing issues that impact performance, productivity, and profit.

In addition to delivering thought-provoking keynotes at many industry events, Joanne also provides highly customized leadership education. She moves minds with insightful retreats, seminars, workshops, and educational experiences. Her high-energy style blends substance, humor and practicality…you will leave with ideas you actually use! Joanne uses the real-world experiences drawn from her thriving consulting practice to develop case studies, assessments and other interactive tools that make her sessions memorable and meaningful. Joanne serves organizations in varied industry sectors. Her clients include the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, American Health Care Association, Leading Age, Association of American Medical Colleges, Opis Management Resources, American Academy of Neurology, Vectorworks, Professional Convention Management Association, Maryland Bankers Association, Institute of Real Estate Management, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, American Honda Motor Company, and many other notable organizations.

A noted author, her numerous articles are featured in industry and trade publications. Complimentary copies are available on her website. Joanne served as Associate Professor in the doctoral program in Management & Decision Sciences at Capitol Technology University in Laurel, MD. Her prior academic experience included serving as Affiliate Instructor in Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business & Management. She is currently a member of the faculty of Saybrook University’s Department of Leadership & Management.

While Joanne enjoys her successful consulting practice, she is also quite busy with activities in her community. She was recently appointed to the Governor of Maryland’s Oversight Committee on Quality of Care in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities. She serves on the Board of Directors of Bridges to Housing Stability, an established nonprofit that is committed to ending homelessness. She is a member of the Executive Alliance (formerly Network 2000), an organization that promotes the advancement of women in professional and executive roles. Joanne serves on the Executive Alliance’s Mentoring Committee and the Philanthropy/Grants Committee. She also enjoys providing ad hoc resource development to other nonprofits that work to improve the lives of the poor and underserved.
